Electric.
From the time of 2014 to 2017, I became involved in an online community centered around making small creative montages on the Call of Duty series of games. What began as a small task of creating a community montage for a new YouTube channel, ended up exposing me to an expansive community of editors, doing the same thing as me. I became involved in several teams focused on making their respective content, then eventually went on to become a member of one of the most sought after editing teams in the community.
I still make these videos from time to time, but it's much less of a focused hobby for me nowadays than it was back before 2017. I even got an opportunity to edit a Splatoon montage!
The videos synced Call of Duty gameplay to music, and included cinematics recorded in-game. We would even reverse engineer the games to enable effects such as DoF and FoV editing. The possibilities with these videos are limitless, and the collaboration with players and other editors made this an unforgettable experience.
This work left a massive impact on me, setting me up for the work I would do in the years to follow.
